Proverbs 11:23.
The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
What we desire for other people is a clue to the condition of our heart.
The righteous man desires what is fair, what is good, what is right, and what is just. He longs to see human flourishing and promotes what is good for his fellow man. In short, the righteous man is free to root for his friends' success.
The wicked man however, is imprisoned by his own selfish desires. He can only see as good those things that are good for him. Fair is not in his vocabulary. Justice cannot be served when your desire is revenge. It is not enough that right is done. The one who has offended the wicked man must suffer until his suffering heart is satisfied. That is what the wicked man terms fair and right.
Beware O’ Wicked Man: for no one can suffer as much as you. Because you are not the sole devotion of their soul.
